JUAN CERNADAS
He was born in 1994 in Pontevedra, Spain. He began studying music in the Conservatorio Profesional de Música Manuel Quiroga with Francisco Seoane and Iago Lariño, and after that in Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA) with Fernando Gómez, Antonio Nuez and André Cebrián. He is currently continuing his studies in Berlin receiving classes from leading flute players.
He has been highly interested in contemporary music since he first collaborated in premieres in Academia para la Nueva Música conducted by Nacho de Paz, releasing pieces by Helena Cánovas, Bernardo Pérez, etc. He has also improved his skills thanks to Julián Elvira, one of the most internationally recognized contemporary performers.
He has also been particularly interested in chamber music, receiving classes of world-wide known performers, such as Kennedy Moretti, Xelo Giner or Cuarteto Quiroga. He has been member of Dúo Isolda, a flute-harp chamber music group, being awarded the first prize for unanimity of the jury in IV Concurso Ibérico de Música de Cámara con Arpa.
He has received advice from well known flutists such as Silvia Careddu, Emily Beynon, Juliette Hurel, Davide Formisano, Clara Andrada, János Bálint, Paul Edmund-Davies or Mattia Petrilli for example. He has also worked with famous composers as Sofía Gubaidulina, Anthony García Abril, Beat Furrer...
He has participated in international festivals like BBC Proms, Salzburger Festspiele, Young Euro Classic, Musikfest Stuttgart. Currently, he combines his musical activity giving lessons in some music festivals like Festival de Música Son-Paf.
He has been member of Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia (OJSG), Jove Orchestra Nacional de Catalunya (JONC), Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE) and Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO), one of the most prestigious young orchestras in Europe which has led him to play in cities like Abu Dhabi, Budapest, Athens, Lisbon, Vienna, Pordenone, Bolzano, Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Stuttgart, Salzburg, Dresden, etc and where he has shared stage with soloists like Frank Peter Zimmermann, Christian Gerhaher, Nicholas Angelich, or Gautier Capuçon.
He has also been a member of several professional orchestras like Orquesta Sinfónica Verum (Madrid) or European Philharmonic of Switzerland (Switzerland) where he has shared stage with soloists like Renaud Capuçon, Javier Camarena, Dimitry Masleev or Andrew Tyson.
He has with international conductors such as Philippe Jordan, Christoph Eschenbach, Lorenzo Viotti, Nacho de Paz, David Afkham, Miguel Romea, etc and he has played in international concert halls such as Musikverein, Konzerthaus Berlin, Het Concertgebouw, Megaron, Royal Albert Hall, Auditorio Nacional de Música and many more.
